December 13, 2003 September 18, 2003 September 14, 2003 Spent some time dancing, some lovely ladies, the crowd seems to run a bit older and richer than the LIGHT bunch. PRANA apparently does not maintain a 50:50 male to female ratio. Although the entire space is larger than LIGHT, the dance floor is about a third the size, yet was never packed shoulder to shoulder the way light gets to be on a Saturday night. Separate VIP area upstairs, with railings overlooking the dance floor. Great lighting, adequate sound system, but lacked "punch." I would recommend PRANA especially as a place to take a date, or to chat, because it has quiet areas off the dance floor, something that LIGHT, and many other clubs do not provide. About 1 AM i started to miss LIGHT, and since its just across the street (about a half mile in vegas) decided to pop in. Not being on the guest list, i was somewhat concerned about getting in, the crowd was 5 deep at the velvet rope, but the ever-alert door crew noticed me and i took that magic escalator ride to heaven. Going to two clubs in one night really gives a direct comparison, the huge dance floor was packed. I managed to catch the DJ's eye, and said hello, then on to the floor, squeezing my way to the go-go platform where my favorite dancer was performing. I danced, essentially non-stop for an hour or two, and then a very pretty long-haired blond started dancing, first on the seats in a VIP booth, and then on one of the giant bass speakers in front of her booth. I was in front of the speaker box, dancing with her, but i would stop at saying she was dancing with me... if she made eye contact once that was about it. I rather wished she had paid more attention to me, if only to learn some better dance moves, which she needed. But, what the heck, i was just zeke, not flashy enough for Paris Hilton. September 3, 2003 One negative event, we started smelling something rotten in our tent Friday afternoon, and in spite of frantic searching did not find the cause. We spent two nights blaming each other for secretly passing gas or something. Finally, Sunday, Mrs. Zeke discovered a dead mouse under the air mattress. Yucck. Plenty of major hotties at the beaches, we ventured sunday over into the west beach, and found it was more of a family area, not to say there were no hot ladies there, just that many of them had kids with them. There were at least three "wild-girl" type videos being shot last weekend, two with official sanction to shoot inside the world-famious KOKOMO club. I went dancing three nights, always my favorite activity. August 17, 2003 If they do a remake of "Dirty Dancing" in english, she should play the girl... WOW!!! DAmmmm, etc. Everyone seemed to enjoy her performance. We did one DIP, and i realize i need to get some upper body strength.... Ain't nothing good gonna ever come out of dropping a hottie onto the floor. I stopped at the first one.... once again, the lazy man's blog writing... from a pm today in yahoo student: if a man has a big dick and money
than he isn't going to have a hard time finding a women By the way, there are only two reasons a man will have sex: 1. its warm 2. its there August 15, 2003 Little had we realized that her mini power outage tuesday night (she ran the battery completely down while watching tv or something) was just the trailer for this weeks blackout. I am looking at the maps and it seems to me the system did a darn good job of isolating the outage. It certainly could have been a lot better. Meanwhile we are all waiting for the first signs of the predicted net slowdown scheduled to be released by blaster tomorrow... hmm today across the oceans from here. i found a way to be more lazy, yet fill even more pages with mindless drivel... i cut and pasted a conversation in a chatroom. bikinibreak: go to the Carnival Court... outside Harrahs. WOW... that filled a LOT of pages. If somebody pays me by the word for this stuff..... August 3, 2003 Had a brief chat with the mom of a spectacular girl who was at the bellagio for her 21st birthday. Now THERE's a class venue for that rite of passage. Picked up the conversation with the mom and the daughter from the car staging lanes (the furthest two) to the door. I suggested dancing at light later. At the bellagio, the valet lane is the second from the right, taxis and limos are in the rightmost lane, the left two lanes feed self-park, but only the second from the left continues. Self-park is actually more convenient than valet when you are leaving, but IMHO valet is more secure. My own reason for using valet is the advertising exposure for the car, which in turn carries the A1-Vegas.com banner. Walked through bellagio, over the pedestrian bridge to the bally's property, then the northbound bridge across flamingo. In and out through the air conditioning of the hotels, north to the McDonalds, where 2 big and tasty sandwiches, ordered individually, so the second was an option, and fresh/hot. $2 plus .14 tax. Dinner
at the bellagio with Mrs. Zeke $54 Bean counters tend to miss stuff like this. While i was dining on the terrace (its a REALLY cool McDonalds) saw a bachelorette party stopping guys on the street and making them flash or moon for the bride-to-be. Everyone in the area was quite amused. Only in vegas.(!) Must be why i moved here. Had not been to carnival court for many weeks... it IS outdoors and hot hot hot... As luck would have it, my favorite showband "the metro" was playing. Dear me... though the poor band must have really suffered in the heat they put on their usual great show. The show bands of today are the headliners of tomorrow, and this band could be the next Scintas. Harrahs should give little guest slots in carnival court to the comedians in their other shows. Although i would be interrupted in my dancing.. i think standup, in short doses, would elevate the show to the formulas that worked in the past. Danced most of two sets, plus a disco session during the break. Hot Hot Hot bartender juggling bottles like a champ. Major hotties ("hotty" approaches the ultimate compliment i can give to the appearance of a lady, it has only reciently entered my vocabulary) came over and danced with (oh humped) me. The band complimented me by saying hello from the stage. The dj was a little more direct, he referred to me a grampa duke, from Dukes of Hazzard, possibly a reference to how much i lusted after daisy duke in my younger days, or possibly cause i look like him a little. Then back to the bellagio, with a brief stop at the pool party at the flamingo. Unfortunately i couldn't find the party. Too hot, i guess. First stop in bellagio was caramel lounge, they put a big couch thingie right in the middle of the area where people previously danced. 100% of the people i talked to (including the manager) want it removed... i hope! And... Finally... Waiting... Velvet rope... hotties... "ZEKE!" and the rope parts, admitting me to heaven once again. A kiss on the hand for the angel at the gate, then up the magic stairs. Several bachelorette parties already on the dance floor when i entered. In fact, the floor was a virtual sea of dancing hotties. I barely got onto the floor, and the bride from one of the parties started dancing with me. I mean she was all over me, she even made me stand spread legged and pulled herself along the floor through the arch, i felt like the colossus, but i am sure none of the ships passing to or from rhodes were as beautiful. Several lovely ladies shared mt dance space. I want to be the judge of a dirty dancing contest. July 28, 2003 Afterward, we went home and i changed shoes to go to light (dress code... no sneakers.) Plenty of hotties, at least 5 bachelorette parties had several girls dance with me, but not enough humping, which i have come to love so. Danced till about 2:45 then home to bed. July 27, 2003 Before a thunderstorm, the air becomes positively charged as wind driven dust loses electrons. Last thursday (7-24-03) a particularly intense storm went through Las Vegas. In the morning, Mrs. Zeke noticed that she felt very depressed, and once she mentioned it, i had that same heavy feeling. Well, dear reader, i have no documentation other than observation, it was a total day of misfortune. I have never seen so many traffic accidents or heard so many sirens as that morning. This is long before the storm, which was very intense, but short, actually arrived. Friday night we went to see Eek-A-Mouse at the Mandalay Beach swimming pool. The horrible concave construction wall had been removed, so the echo problems that marred last week's Bangles concert were corrected. Sound was crisp and clean, with some echos from the buildings, etc. but nothing to detract from the beautiful outdoor venue. Interestingly, the sound check sounded more like the EAGLES, than reggae, making me wonder if the band was filled in by local musicians (IMHO Las Vegas is second only to New York City in terms of musical talent, expect to see more and more albums recorded here. I have purchased a digital 8-track recorder, and, if i ever get some time, hope to find a band or two to produce. Yesterday was probably the biggest musical surprise of the year, we went to eat at the buffet in PARIS casino, and while we were waiting for our slot in line, heard a street band. Sorry i did not get the names of the band, but it was one of the best entertainments i have ever seen. The band consisted of violin, accordion (don't laugh, he kicked ass,) and upright bass. With them a male and female singer, a tenor and a soprano, and a couple who danced. No microphones, amplifiers, lighting, fog machines, pyro, etc. Simple costumes reflecting the PARIS theme. World class vocals, the hottest tango i have ever seen, and great musicianship, all just 5 ft away. When you are in las vegas, i highly recommend that you dine at the PARIS buffet, and stop to see these wandering minstrels so entertainingly recreated. July 20, 2003 Friday night, at LIGHT, as i was walking down the ramp to the dance floor, i managed to dump someone's drink on a beautiful lady. The drink had been left on the booth wall by someone going to the dance floor. Now, you all know how i feel about drinks and cigarettes on the dance floor, so this person's act of leaving the drink behind was, at first glance, a good thing. Unfortunately, MY glance failed to see the glass until i felt it, sideways, against my hand. The poor lady was terribly upset, and was yelling at me. She even made me feel how wet the back of her dress and her thong were (the only positive component of the entire event.) The waitress quickly arrived with a major pile of napkins, and the dampened damsel was patted dry. I considered offering to help, but thought better of it, and continued dancing. If you are reading this, lovely lady, my sincere apology. I have become such a spoiled brat, not visiting any of my old favorite spots, tho friday night i escorted Mrs. Zeke to see the Bangles at the Mandalay Bay Swimming pool. The bangles were attractive on stage, and worked very hard to give a good performance. Sadly, they were hampered by concentrated echoes from a curved temporary construction wall. The echoes were sufficiently delayed to cause any musician to go nuts. This same acoustic flaw is the scourge of bands performing at the MGM grand, where the domed architecture generates the same off-beat and focused echoes. Fortunately i was able to talk to the sound guys, and suggested a few well placed panels of SONEX brand sound absorbing material. For the sake of future musicians, i hope the venue takes corrective action, cause it's a really cool place to hear music, the stage juts out into the pool, so the audience, at least the front 20 rows or so, are standing in the water. For those who don't want to wade in, there is plenty of sand to sit on, blankets permitted, towels provided. Once the music started, i got off to the side and danced (in a spotlight, of course.) After the concert, the band stopped by a gate and signed autographs. Next friday, we have tickets for a reggae fest, featuring Eek A Mouse. Mrs. Zeke is a big reggae fan, and besides, she says, it's worth $15 (that's the ticket price) just to go in that pool. LIGHT continues to be my first choice for dancing, not just for the music and lightshow, but because it still has the hottest ladies (IMHO, of course!) It seems to me that early friday would be your best chance to get in. Dress cool! Oh, yeah, more misfortune... Friday the 12th a lightning strike took out three of our wireless internet radios in Central, AZ. Our regional manager, Derek, was able to get everything working the following day, but depleted our supply of backup equipment. My friend LUI asked me to send him some of the lightning-struck equipment for him and his techs to examine, and possibly repair. He does a lot of strange repairs, because he is willing to work on legacy equipment. For example, he keeps several old, very old, DOS PC's working because they are the only machines that will interface to the controller cards for the elevator banks in many buildings there. LUI was one of the very first SONY professional equipment dealers in the U.S.A. I worked for Lui several years while i lived in Manhattan. He was the best man at my second wedding (the current Mrs. Zeke is the third.) July 2, 2003 Our first wireless connections in vegas are operating, we upgraded the first customer from TRANGO brand radios to the MOTOROLA CANOPY radios, and the problems we were having (lost UDP video packets) have cleared up. My guess is that the internal error correction in the CANOPY units was catching any lost packets and re-transmitting them. Also, we have a much better line-of-sight path for the canopy, from the FITZGERALD HOTEL. Last week, i put on my new roller skates, and went around a few times at the CRYSTAL PALACE roller rink on Boulder Highway. I probably need a better pair of skates, tried a pair of rink rental skates also. The rink had a VERY sticky floor, apparently this is done to please the inline skaters, who want a good grip. In my previous skating days, i had skates with ceramic wheels, and the floors of the rinks were kept very slick, so that the skating experience was SLIDE-N-GLIDE sm. A slick floor takes a lot of the effort out of roller skating, and drifting through the turns reminded me of driving a sports car. It's probably a lot safer, also, since a grippy floor is completely unforgiving and topples skaters if they make the slightest mistake. I hope i can convince the rinks to go back to the old practices. June 12, 2003 Saturday i was able to get our wireless Internet antenna
filtered, so that we now have working wireless links to our new customer on west
sahara avenue, via the top of the Fitzgerald Hotel in downtown Vegas. Here are
the latest stats on the link: What is amazing about this is that there are 10 other transmitters operating in the same frequency band on the same rooftop! This was the reason for the problems we were having. The Motorola Canopy wireless Internet solution is simply the best i have seen to date. Of course now that its working, the customer is saying he wants to wait till he gets a new computer before he turns it up. *sigh* Mrs. Zeke returned Monday night. Guys, as much as we all think we love the single life, there is nothing better than the constant love of a fine woman. Not to mention clean socks. Yesterday the HONDA dealer had the new car all day, went to pick it up, it was absolutely beautiful, they detailed it after making a few minor repairs. As i was ready to drive it home, it failed to start. It is still over at the dealership this morning (it's 7:53 AM as i write this.) I think i know what the problem is, the spare tire door has an electric motor to open and close it, i think the limit switches are not properly installed, so it drains the battery. I'll relay this information to the service manager when he gets in. The air conditioning at the house in vegas it older than my kids. I really need to get it replaced, it simply can't keep up with the HEAT here. I can't afford to replace it right now, but it probably wastes enough energy every year to pay for a replacement. June 6, 2003 Take teams of dancers from two of the top gentlemen's clubs, add water and alcohol, mix with hip-hop from a top wild102 DJ, and you get WILD NIGHTS pool parties at the STRATOSPHERE. Last night was the opening of a weekly summer event, twelve more weeks... THURSDAYS : 6pm 8th floor pool. Strange walk through the hallways of the hotel when you get out of the elevator, but there is someone there to get you pointed in the right direction. Guys $10 includes one draft beer. Ladies free and drink free till 8PM. THe dress code is mostly cover the private parts. Lots of thong bathing suits on beautiful women. Two guys got free drinks all night by jumping in the pool while dressed. Three guys jumped in, but the last one was judged to be not one of the first two, and hence, no drinks for him.
[rant] Speaking of nipple. Guys. If you want to see nipple, look in a mirror. Nature does not waste time building separate models for male and female. Given a bit of variation in size and shape they are pretty much all alike. This is boiling down to my "stop asking girls to show themselves in public" lecture: it can get the girl in a lot of trouble. In the case of a girl in a drinking establishment, it also puts the club in violation of liquor regulations. So, in conclusion, either use your imagination (or in many cases the inherent transparency of most fabrics,) or else go someplace private. [/rant] Was a little hard to get started dancing because the sun was still at hair-drier levels when we started. The competition was fun to watch, especially water volleyball. The teams were from Palomino's and from Sheri's Club, a recently purchased addition to the Sheri's Ranch brand. The girls from both clubs were stunning. As you know, i have always had a fondness for Sheri's girls, so ill please recuse myself from making that particular call. A few tourist girls danced with me, but mostly was dancing with Sheri's girls. Everyone there certainly got an eyeful. I was totally outclassed by them, of course, they being professional dancers and all. Afterward headed over to the "bounce" party at LIGHT and CARAMEL. This was my first thursday night there... smaller crowd party starts at caramel (donno how early) and light gets dancing by 11 or so.. SHIFT_topic Still having problems seeing the signal from the customer radio, later we (HEH! that's the editorial we) are taking some wire mesh to the antenna site to try and block interference. The signal from the radio is plenty strong, but the interference level (called JITTER) is 13 to 15, a value that needs to be below 10 for a good connection.
June 1, 2003 LAKE
HAVASU PICTURES. Last night was at the Bellagio in two clubs: Caramel and LIGHT. Caramel is a Mix-N-Meet bar just a few steps from LIGHT. Live DJ spins a party groove at conversation levels, with some very danceable favorites mixed in as appropriate. If you are planning on a table at LIGHT, have your party meet at Caramel, Much nicer than hanging out in line. The Caramel staff (can | should be able to) notify you when your table is ready at light. I only stayed a few minutes at Caramel, i wanted to get into LIGHT before the dance floor filled, i was not sure how long my foot would hold out. I stated two paragraphs above that lake havasu attracts the most beautiful women in the world... but it is a very, very close contest with some of the Las Vegas Discos, especially LIGHT! The staff at LIGHT does a great job of attracting lovely women, and for maintaining a door policy that keeps the population more gender balanced than other clubs. As lake Havasu excels in lovely bodies, LIGHT is filled with beautiful faces. I managed to enjoy a few hours of dancing in spite of the pain from my foot. On the business side of things, we (mrs zeke helped) raised a pole on the top of the FITZGERALD hotel, and have established a high speed link between the house/office on Maryland Parkway, and the pole. An outbound link to West Sahara is being constructed (or would be if i were out in the hot sun instead of typing here.) April 30, 2003 Monday night went dancing at "Carnival Court." This is one of my favorite spots because the dancing starts early. They have live bands on the stage, some good, some in need of improvement, but all are dancable, and the crowd, mostly tourists, is always in a party mood. Last night went back again, but it was so windy i was almost blown off the dance floor! I stayed for one set, then back home to sleep. This morning i am sitting here waiting for the cable guy to hook up our new fiber drop. Last week they pulled 18 strands of fiber optic cable into our home/office. Each strand can deliver several gigabits of data, so we will have virtually unlimited bandwidth available. April 26, 2003
Discovered a new favorite disco "LIGHT" located in the bellagio. Lots of great sound and beautiful women. If you go, go early, it is nearly impossible to get in after midnight. Dress to impress. This is where many of the celebs (beside myself *giggle*) go to be seen. Another disco "SEVEN" is a stand-alone on the strip. This is an after-hours club (kind of an oxymoron in Las Vegas, since there are no closing hours) i left the place at 4 AM and there was a huge line at the door! Clean hard-hitting sound, nice hardwood dance floor. Lots of hot ladies, mostly locals, it seemed to me. Another club "CURVE," at the Venetian, left me somewhat unimpressed, mostly out of towners, probably a good place to meet. The sound was good, dance floor VERY small. Much more to cover, ill try to get everything up to date here. February 25, 2003
Today is a packing day... back to arizona tomorrow. This weekend we are switching our customers in the Safford, Arizona area over to new modem banks. If all goes well we will head to rocky point for spring break. If the upgrades go poorly, we will be forced to cut the spring break trip to concentrate on business. February 14, 2003 Still have lots of pictures to get uploaded... just need to get off my butt (well actually PARK my butt in front to the server.) Beautiful weather today, after two rainy days. Very welcome moisture, of course, but Las Vegas drivers don't know what to do in the rain (many still have the wiper blades from when they bought the car) so they speed up to get out of the rain as fast as possible. January 27, 2003 Thursday night... trying to find a station on the car radio, came across 88.5 and loved the music... a mix of techno and "old school," what we called R & B (Rhythm and Blues) back in the 60's. It turned out it was a live feed from a nightclub called SRO that was having a benefit for a las vegas opportunity program. Stopped at carnival court (fun... hot tourist ladies,) Tequila Joes (no dancing thursdays,) then i decided to try the SRO benefit. Found the club, was informed that there was a dress code... rushed home, changed, went in. Had a great time dancing. The lady DJ from the radio station, a MAJORLY hot lady danced a few numbers with me. Friday night went dancing... Carnival court (major hotties,) Tequila Joe's where the Devine Russian Waitress works, and then Bikinis at the RIO, where i had been invited previously... great fun there... bought two cool light thingies. a fiber-optic brush... red green blue flashing, and a little crystal red green blue orange. I bought them from Kristopher at Glo-Works he had a table at the club with a huge variety of light effects. Watched guys get body shots of whipped cream from the lovely bikini clad waitresses. Some of the gals did the same from one of the beefy waiters. Good fun... not good clean fun, but good fun. Afterward visited SRO again... heavier music mix, very young crowd (well, all over 21 cause they serve alcohol.) If you are black, or into black music, new and old, this is a fantastic venue. REAL WOOD DANCE floor, made it a pleasure to dance there. We bought the "Back to the Future" trilogy, watched #1 last week, #2 saturday night, hope we can get to see #3 (the wild west one) tonight. [added later] Watched the DVD... was a lot of fun. Was planning to go back to arizona today, but decided instead to remain in vegas, our phone lines are due to get switched to our unlimited long distance plan. I just want to be here in case the call forwarding drops off during the switchover, i can't afford to miss those customer service calls, after all that's what an ISP is supposed to be doing.. January 23,2003 January 20, 2003 another great weekend. saturday night went to Tequila Joe's on the strip and the Carnival Court, next door at Harrahs. Took a little nap from 5 pm till about 9... then did some more work on the new computers. Got to the clubs around 12:30 AM and things were really jumping both places. plenty of cute young ladies came over and danced with me... yum. but (and mrs zeke agrees) the old slow dances we used to do were 10 times sexier than the dry-humping stuff we do today... not that i will turn down a little grinding from a pretty lady! saturday and sunday did more on the sex research website and finished assembling the two new computers. downloaded freeBSD 5.0 and installed it on one of the new machines. The other is going to have win2K server for now, maybe. thinking of putting on .net server 2003 January 13, 2003 Finally got started on the Sex Research Lab website. Many hours and only a few links added, but i hope to get more added soon. January 10, 2003 The fireworks were beautiful, tho everything looked so tiny... to me this was for two reasons. first, the scale for the buildings in las vegas is so huge that everything looks small. (this effect also results in surprisingly long walks, when the building that appears a block away is a three mile hike.) second, to reduce litter and fire hazard, a special class of fireworks called "self consuming" was used. Normal fireworks have casings made of paper, string, and glue. Self consuming fireworks are composes entirely of pyrotechnic chemicals, so that nothing except fine ash results from the display. While this is a good thing from a safety standpoint, it apparently limits the size and types of shells that can be manufactured. The display was shot simultaneously from the tops of several hotels. We stood near the sahara, and had a clear view of the displays at circus circus and stratosphere. New years day we had pork from woo's chinese barbecue. (a don't miss food experience if the health department lets them reopen... more later on this.) The following day (jan 2) Mrs. zeke dropped me at a car rental place, then took the Honda back to arizona. I rented a little daewoo... cheap enough, but you get what you pay for. rather poor fit and finish, stuff that did not work. A week without mrs zeke... not my favorite thing! Friday, XO communications sent the SPRINT installer out to install two phone lines in the vegas office. (SPRINT owns all the copper, all the competing phone companies have to get the "last mile" from them.) Sunday called XO repair service to get call forwarding working properly. Monday the XO installer came by and tested the installation. Our las vegas lines now ring directly into the office. Finally! It took about 8 months to get this change because they were RCF (remote call forwarding) lines, not physical lines, and they fell out of the database, so XO couldn't find them. The did not seem to have any trouble with the billing database, however... the bills arrived with precision throughout. Special thanks to will smith the salesman and ART of XO for tracking the problem down. Tuesday had a meeting with the salesman for an upstream provider, then off to the adult webmasters convention at the Sands convention center. very interesting. met a lot of nice guys.. i am sure there are a lot of real sleazeballs in the adult industry, but i guess only the nice ones showed up for the convention, and/or the slezy ones put on their best behaviour. Wednesday afternoon was a very happy occasion... Mrs Zeke returned from taking care of stuff in arizona. Happy zeke. Thursday, returned the rental car... the attended the opening of CES (consumer electronics show) plenty of cool new things to see. Mrs zeke came along, and we ran out of steam about Noon. Decided to pick up some pork a woo's barbeque, plowed through sor convention traffic till we go to Desert Inn Road, then smooth ride to china mall. Big pink sign on door THIS ESTABLISHMENT CLOSED by HEALTH DEPARTMENT. Several other people seemed as disappointed as we were. Even more unhappy was the Chinese Man (mr Woo?) inside the restaurant. He was just standing there... un moving... watching all the business he was losing. Called today... they are still closed. Today we plan to visit the Adult convention (not the same as the adult webmaster convention, i PROMISE to get some PHOTOS.
